BSR.015 – Investment paid off – Save house energy costs with modernized 150 kW ewers district heating station

Initial situation

In this example, the Bielefeld school district is getting a new and energy-saving ewers station to avoid unnecessary heat loss, CO2 emissions and excessive house energy costs.

After the building in Bielefeld was renovated, the district heating station also needed modernization and was completely redesigned. In the process, the connected load was reduced to 150 kW, which is only about one-third of the previous output. This adjustment has already reduced the annual basic fee by around €5,200. In addition, lower heat consumption and thus reduced consumption costs can be expected.

The city of Bielefeld has been expanding district heating networks for many years and now has one of the largest district heating networks in Germany. Due to the long existing network with many buildings and residential units, some existing district heating stations are outdated. Thus, the district heating is not used efficiently, which is why a modernization of the district heating stations is necessary.
